This new feature will basically allow users to secure their WhatsApp app with their fingerprint data every time someone opens the app on the phone. The feature was implemented previously to iPhones where WhatsApp allowed its users to lock the app with TouchID or FaceID authentication. For Android devices, WhatsApp has only implemented fingerprint authentication support for now.
Before using this feature, you must update your app to the latest version from your google play store and follow the steps below.
How to enable WhatsApp fingerprint lock feature on Android smartphone
Step 1: Open WhatsApp and tap on three dots at the top right corner
Step 2: Settings> Account> Privacy> Fingerprint lock
Step 3: Turn on the toggle for fingerprint lock
Step 4: Verify your fingerprint when prompted
Step 5: You can choose the automatic lock time span from — Immediately, After 1 minute, and After 30 minutes
